Mental health has been designated a major national cause by the government in 2025 , with the aim of freeing up speech, improving access to care, information, and prevention. What concrete progress has the Sarreguemines specialized hospital center made? None, except breaking a taboo. "The only relevant thing is that we talk about it," insists Dr. Charles Gentilhomme, psychiatrist , president of the establishment's medical commission. "This major cause introduces an essential subject: we must be able to consider mental health as we consider the League against Cancer. But people are less afraid of going to see a doctor for a tumor diagnosis than a psychiatrist, who labels you as depressive. Yet, when you see what people go through with depression, it is discomfort, difficulties, and suffering that are real."
